As some of you may know, I am a charter member for the Gamma Phi chapter of Alpha Phi at Florida State. I was the Vice President of Marketing last year for our chapter, and one of my biggest accomplishments was creating a relationship with our local hospital, Tallahassee Memorial, and more specifically with their Heart & Vascular Center.
Alpha Phi's international philanthropy supports Women's Heart Health. With that being said, Alpha Phi foundation selects a Hospital each year to receive a $50,000 Heart to Heart Grant, based upon all of the grant applicants.
This year, Tallahassee Memorial Health Foundation is one of TWO recipients of the Heart to Heart Grant. TMH plans on providing our chapter, along with the other 15 Panhellenic chapters on our campus, with CPR certification. That is nearly 600 women who will benefit from this grant. We will also be able to take a tour inside a giant replica of a human heart!
There are no words to explain my excitement. Not only did our chapter raise nearly $28,000 at our annual Red Dress Gala last fall, with half of the proceeds benefitting the Heart & Vascular Center at TMH, but TMH has just received a $50,000 grant to aid and instruct those on how to help those experiencing some sort of medical emergency relating to the heart.
Congratulations Alpha Phi and the TMH Foundation. Here is to many more years to come!
