Five Summer Staples

1. Summer calls for sunbathing, or long walks on a sunny day. A great after sun hair treatment is a must. Aveda is a great company who uses all natural ingredients, their price points also make them slightly more affordable over it's competitors.

2. A go-to summer frock. It's great to have that one item you can dress up or dress down. This dress is the perfect mix of feminine and sexy.

3. Supergoop Everyday Sunscreen, and not just for the beach days. Not to mention, there are endless articles on how beneficial wearing sunscreen everyday can be for preserving your youth.

4. Some sort of hat. Not only does it protect your face and hair from too much sun exposure, it can easily spice up any outfit.

5. A universal pair of shades so you can grab and go!

A Much Needed Detox

It goes without saying that technology has drastically improved since the 1990's. Computers are becoming smaller and more compact, and cell phones can nearly be considered a human appendage.

Technology and all the applications that come along with them have reached a point that I am neurotically up to date on my Instagram feed. I know I am not alone on this one when I say I am addicted to my cell phone to some extent. Luckily, I am only an Instagram fiend, seeing that I refuse to give in into the devil that is Snap Chat.

Our generation is so consumed with documenting every moment that occurs in our lives that we are missing out on the things that could have actually happened had we put the phones away. Taking a few photos to document the night is completely acceptable, but how much fun can you possibly have if you are too busy making these "memories" with your phone. Devices have intruded on the genuine interactions we use to have with one another, and those interactions are what makes us normal functioning human beings.

I challenge you to put the phone, tablet, whatever it is distracting you, away. Victor and I have sworn off phones during date nights, and have agreed that we both need to use our phones less. Get involved with those around you. Make memories that make the most of your life.

When all is said and done you may remember the pictures you saw on Instagram, or the text messages you continuously sent, but those will all take a back seat to what matters most. You will remember the people you met, the times you had with them, and all the love and laughter that came along with it.

Monday Mojo: What's the Rush?

My sorority sister and friend, Jamie, has a wonderful blog (found HERE) full of wit and sass. Jamie's recent post on engagements inspired my motivation for this Monday's post.

I have been in a serious relationship for over four years, however, Victor and I are in no hurry to get engaged or married. *Cue shock and awe*

I most certainly pester him with pictures of engagement rings I like, and we talk about our future together on a regular basis.

Our relationship has defied several odds that some would assume we would have been married by now. Victor has been in the military for as long as I have known him, which is over six years, and we have recently experienced an eight month long deployment. We have lived together for over three years of our our relationship, and he is honestly the best roommate I have ever had. We know we will end up together, so what is the rush?

Why not experience all the great things life has to offer without the pressure of engagaments and weddings? Becoming a self-sufficient adult is enough pressure, and our goals in life do not involve engagements, weddings, or children at this moment. While a pretty rock on my ring finger would most certainly look nice, it loses its appeal when you are still living at home, and calling someone your fiance.

"So, when are you getting married?" When the time and money is right, it will all happen, and we will have a better answer. We do not need to make our relationship anymore official than it is at this point in time.

Take the time to slow down and experience everything infront of you right now. Find a reason to make the most of every second. Form a Sunday TV ritual, or start saving for a fun vacation. We all know getting married can be a great tax break, but there is still so much to learn about life and each other.

Most individuals experience their 20's single, and I love that I get to share this time of my life with Victor, even the ups and the downs. Enjoy the lack of chaos life has to offer before careers become too demanding, before there are too many financial obligations, and before children take priority in your life.

Whether you are in a committed relationship or not learn to embrace the now. Learn to love yourself, learn to love your life, and learn to love those you choose to share it with. Enjoy it all.

XOXO

Monday Mojo: Bring Out My Inner Emerald

Most of us have been on a diet of sorts at some point in our lives. I can guarantee you the reason said diet was not successful was due to the fact you felt a) restricted or b) became bored with the same 'day-in-day-out' eating plan.

This Monday I am motivated, and hopefully motivate you all, to spice up your healthy eating regimens. Get creative! You would be surprised at the array of seasonings, combinations, etc that are out there and can take your recipes to a whole new level.

I know one of the new items I am really looking forward to trying out in my own kitchen is this ahi tuna recipe:

Bon App├ętit!

The Liebster Award

My sorority sister, Caroline, from This Styled Life nominated me for the Liebster Award.

The purpose of this award is to help boast fellow bloggers with under 200 followers.

If you get tagged, or feel like starting the trend for you and your blogger friends, here is how it works:

1. You must link back to the person who nominated you.
2. You must answer the 11 questions given by the person who nominated you.
3. You pick 11 nominees with under 200 followers to answer your questions.
4. You cannot nominate the person who nominated you.
5. You must tell the nominees that they have been nominated by you.

Here is what Caroline wanted to know about her lovely 11 ladies:

1. Do you have a favorite outfit memory? Hmmm. This one is tough. For big events I usually take a lot of time meticulously planning my outfit. I think the memory that stands out most is my last Red Dress Gala my senior year at FSU. I wore a BCBG gown with a slit up the left leg. This dress made me feel extremely sexy without being too much.

2. What has been your favorite fashion "score"? I don't have a favorite because I am easily tricked into buying things when they are on a temporary sale or promotion. My most recent score was a pair of polarized Ray Ban Club Masters. They retail for around $250 and I got them for $180!!! Thanks Ideeli!

3. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 5 years is tough because I usually know where I hope to see myself only within the next few months. Things happen that change the course of your life and plans you may have had. I very much so like to go with the flow sometimes. For now I hope to be living a comfortable life with my man, Victor. I also hope that with his return from deployment very soon, I will have more of an opportunity to really dive head first into blogging since my personal photographer will be back!

4. Why did you start your blog? I became EXTREMELY into watching beauty tutorials on YouTube. I still watch a bunch today. I thought hey I am pretty good at giving my opinion on products I like so why not try it out. It started out as a product review blog, but then quickly switched over to my daily outfits. I have not been extremely consistent with it as of lately, but that is all about to change :)

5. If you had to pick your favorite clothing/accessory item, what would it be and why? I call them my Jesus sandals. They're from Steve Madden and I bought them almost three summers ago when I was interning in NYC. Not only have these bad boys crushed the pavement in NYC, they have traveled with me abroad and are my go to choice of footwear. They have been through hell and high water and I will be extremely sad when they are no longer functional.

6. What is your favorite thing to cook/eat? I love to experiment in the kitchen. With my competition prep diet and eating more so out of convenience now a days I do not do much experimental cooking. I love food. I love pizza, burgers, icecream, cookies, sushi, you name it. I don't discriminate. I love all food.

7. What do you like to do when you aren't blogging? Besides being a Netflix junky, I love lifting (side note I HATE cardio...which is why I always dread the gym), and I love online shopping. I would rather online shop then go to a mall any day.

8. Is there anything you haven't done yet in life but want to? I think I have experienced a lot in my young life. Obviously the next steps I am looking forward to is having my own place, getting engaged/married, and starting a family. Obviously only one of these three options is in the near future.

9. Where do you find yourself shopping the most? ONLINE. And Vitamin Shoppe.

10. Do you prefer to dress casually or dress up? Dress up for sure. I love everything about it. The hair, the makeup, the outfit. The nails. Everything. I love getting all dressed up because I get pretty scrub-ish in the gym.

11. Which season is your favorite for fashion & beauty purposes? I honestly love them all. Each season comes and goes and I'm like oh I love winter the best...I love spring the best..etc etc. While South Florida doesn't allow much room for seasonal changes, I still love being able to play with color palettes and what not.

Here are my nominees. Some are brand spankin' new blogs while others should have way more of a cult following:

Devin from The Chokolate Doll
Brianne from Trunk Show
Wear A Wishbone
Chelsey & Megan LaRussa from Southern Soeurs
Jenna from Adorned With Love
Ashley Michelle from Ashley Michelle Blog
Pierce from Pop Of Pierce
Joleen from Madly Materialistic
Kaley from The Girl With The Bun
The Here and There
Noelle from Noelle Kramer

And here are my questions for you (this blog post is never ending btw)...

1. What is your go-to lip color?
2. If you had to get rid of everything in your closet besides one item what would it be?
3. What is your life motto or current favorite quote?
4. What is one New Year's resolution you've made that you've really been sticking to?
5. If you were handed your dream job right this second, what would it be?
6. What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning and the last thing you do before going to bed?
7. What are some of your favorite brands or designers?
8. What are your favorite beauty products?
9. If those closest to you had to pick one word to describe you what would it be?
10. What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
11. If you go fly anywhere tomorrow (let's be honest us girls need time to pack) where would you go?

XOXO
